Many people do not have English as a first language. It is learnt as a second language. To be competent in English you require both the spoken and the written forms of the language. The knowledge of spoken and written English will give you a good command of the language.
The second reason is to improve your career. Today careers require skills in the English language. You will need to be competent in speech. With excellent presentation skills, your career prospects go up. There is need for the correct articulation of words. This enhances interest in everything you say concerning the profession, you are involved in.

The third reason is to gain skills in translation. There are many countries in the world where English is not spoken. English is needed especially during international meetings. The translators need to have knowledge of both written and spoken English to carry out this kind of work effectively. Many organizations need translators to describe their products. There are products that need to be described in English. .
A fourth reason is to make learning easy. For you to have an easy time when doing your academic work, you need to be familiar with both the spoken and written English. This will enable you get the concepts easily. Writing of academic papers will also be a light task.
The final reason is that this will help you during interviews. You will be able to understand the oral questions and offer the best answers in written interviews. Written and spoken English are tools for success that should be learnt at all cost.
