English is an eclectic language which tends to borrow words from other languages instead of constructing words for new concepts from older words with deviations or word composition.English is the world’s second largest national language, the official language in over 70 countries. It can be at least understood almost everywhere among educated people as it’s the world’s news media language and the language of cinemas, television, music and computer world and other media.
The causes of its universality are well known and understandable. English first begun to spread during the 16 century with British Empire and was strongly reinforced in the 20th by USA World domination in economic, political and military aspects.

English as a Universal Language
English for one it is an easy language to learn, understand and speak. A complex language like Hungarian would be a very unlikely for a universal language. English has no significant synthetic and most analytical language, fusion or agglutinative characters.
Even researchers all over the world know and use it a lot, and often the relevant terminology is more stable and well-known in than in your own. Thus, to maximize the number of interested people that can understand your text, you often select even if the great majority of your readers have the same native as you. Also, you might write your texts both in your native language and in English, but this doubles the work needed for writing your document and possibly maintaining it. In the news system, the position of English is regarded as so obvious that people who post non– English articles to such groups — by accident or by ignorance — typically get flamed quickly.
There are other strong languages that could also be universal languages but due to lesser population and economic power they have a number of disadvantages when compared to English.
